Google offers free QuickOffice on iOS and Android

Google trumps Microsoft offering its free office suite on iOS and Android for customers of Google Apps for Business.  While the mobile version of Microsoft Office is not forthcoming, Google decided to fill a void. It offers users of smartphones and tablets running Android and iOS using this free office suite. The only condition, size, is that this offer is only available to customers of Google Apps for Business.

Google has acquired this application in June 2012. Initially, it appeared as a mobile solution for users of the Microsoft Office suite. Quick Office makes it possible to edit on mobile devices files created with Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

In making this offer, Google frontal attack the father of Windows. Rumors evoked the launch of a mobile version of Office for March 2013. In 2012, tests were even mentioned. The Redmond company has quickly denied the rumors. This decision was strongly criticized by financial analysts believe that Microsoft missed an estimated $ 2.5 billion per year income. One of these observers believed there is little that this strategy is a costly mistake.

Excel 2007 convert columns to rows

I am going to share another timesaving tip for Excel. Many time we need to present our data in different way. As a developer I find Excel very convenient to create sample data for my projects and then insert it into the Database. What if we want to re arrange the data which is coming in columns to rows?. Yes, you can easily change data representation row-wise. To do this, copy the data after highlighting it.  After this, right click on the cell where you want to show it.

From the shortcut menu select Paste Special , this will show you a dialog box  similar to below image :

Select  Transpose  and press ok button. You will find you column data is arranged row-wise.

You can follow similar steps to convert row data into column layout. This trick should also work with Excel 2010 version.

How to backup outlook 2007 rules

Outlook rules and alerts are also very important settings which makes your life easy and saves your time.

You can follow below steps to backup outlook 2007 rules:

  1. Go to tools menu, click Rules and Alerts
  2. This will show up Rules and Alerts Dialog similar to image below.
  3. Now, click options button at the top of the dialog.
  4. This will show another dialog “Options”.
  5. From options dialog click “Export Rules” button.
  6. A file save dialog will be displayed to save the exported file. Enter a valid file name and path which you can remember and save it.
  7. If you want the rules to be compatible with earlier versions of Outlook, you can select option to do so from “save as type” dropdown. It displays below options :
    • Outlook 2002 Compatible Rules Wizard rules
    • Outlook 2000 Compatible Rules Wizard rules
    • Outlook 98 Compatible Rules Wizard rules
    When you export rules, they are saved in a file with an .rwz extension.
  8. You can take backup of this file to a pen drive or whichever medium you prefer. One another option which I use is to email myself into my Gmail account.

Sync Gmail contacts with Outlook

SynContact is a free software which can be used to Synchronize contacts between Outlook 2007 and multiple Gmail accounts.  Once you install it, add your gmail target accounts via Tools>Contact Synchorinzation>Sync Settings.
